Freedom

This past Sunday, our wonderful church held it's annual Freedom Fest...food, fun and fireworks!  It was AMAZING!  The persons responsible for putting the whole shindig together really outdid theselves this year...much bigger and better than last year.

James wasn't on call this year so our family got to attend as a complete unit.  We watched Chan feed the animals at the petting zoo and she also slid down a few water slides as well.  Camden wasn't much into getting onto the water slides, oh well maybe next year.

As for me, being a food lover at heart, I was in heaven.  BBQ sandwiches, grilled corn-on-the-cob and the BEST italian cream cake you have ever tasted in your entire life!  James and Chayce had homemade banana pudding, I tasted it and it was GOOOOOD!

The fireworks show was absolutely amazing...long and full of color, set to patriotic music.  It was so nice just hanging with family and friends, celebrating our country!

Weird, I know but I have to get it out there

Dear Family and Friends,

If God sees it fit that I should pass on before you all, please take note that I would like this song played at my funeral.  It is beautiful, amazing and so fitting for me.

Thank you in advance,

Allyssa

A day off, from the salon that is...

I woke up today and had to get our big girl out the door and on the road to Oklahoma.  She wanted to go visit some of her relatives on her dad's side of the family so her grandma took her on a day trip there.  She's on the road back home as I type this.

Since I had the day off, I thought it would be fun to take the little ones and join some friends for a playdate at a spray park.  Brownie points for mom, right?!

About ten minutes after we got there Camden slipped and fell which left him with two "owies" on his foot.  He was ready to leave.  Our nice little picnic/playdate and he's ready to hit the road due to his accident.  I told him that we were going to stay and that it would stop hurting in a bit and sent him off to play.  Soon after, Channing came and sat on the towel next to me...just to sit.  Here we are, a fun spray park, lots of kids to play with and my kids are glued to my side.  What gives?  We could be sitting at home zombie-fied in front of the t.v. but we are out, breathing summer air and hanging out with friends...I totally don't get it.

After some coaxing, they would go off for five minutes or so, get wet and come back to me.  I love that they love me so much (really I do) but I had this dreamy idea that they would love to get out of the house and do something different and fun...with other kids EVEN!  Anyway, I THINK they ended up having fun, even if it was just a smidgen of fun.  Onto the next idea, I guess...

Terrific Tuesday

My parents and Camden on the lake

My parents have a boat...joy!  If it's hot outside, our family is somewhere near the water...a pool, a lake, a sprinkler.  Today, the kids and I got to go to the lake with my parents.  I took my camera but wouldn't you know that I left it in the back of my car so my blackberry had to stand in for my camera, UGH!

We went tubing a bit, but mostly just floated in the water with noodles.  The water was a perfect temperature, cool just when you first get in and then comfortable from there on after.  We seemed to drift away from the boat quite a ways and thank goodness we were wearing our life jackets because we were exhausted trying to swim back.  Luckily Pops cranked up the boat and scooped us all up.  My legs were very thankful!

Later in the afternoon we all decided we were tired of floating and docked the boat near a shoreline where we all could walk around.  It was nice.  Feet touching the rocky, sandy bottom and not having to swim.  The kids thoroughly got a kick out of it, searching for rocks and shells.  I was thinking the whole time what great practice this is for our two little ones since we are heading to the beach in July.  Camden decided that he was going to start a rock collection and boy did he!  Searching high and low with no fear in all the holes and cracks on and near the shore.  Channing was a little crabby after stepping on a rock and hurting her toe so she chose to stay in the boat while I searched for shells for her.  After a while she decided to put her flip flops on and give it a go herself.  I explained to her that the ocean would be very similar to what we were standing in, then she reminded me that she would be taking her water shoes to the beach. Oh, ok.

It was a terrific Tuesday, I spent the whole day with the ones I love (minus my hubby, who was slaving away to provide for our family).  We all got a little too much sun, the little ones got nasty lake water in their mouths, we kicked our legs from swimming so hard that we were exhausted but what fun it was!

It's days like today that make wonderful memories...

Photoshoot

Several days ago I took my kiddos out to snap some photos of them...I like taking pictures, they like me taking pictures of them. It's a perfect marriage! I even got some with Chayce and her beau...they are so cute, they could almost pass for brother and sister with their dark brown eyes and brown hair...shhh, don't tell her I said that, she'd probably get mad! Oh well, here are a select few:

I have such beautiful, photogenic kids...there I said it. HA!

Words of the day...take 2

Channing to Camden:  "You can't give up the first time you try something."

Encouraging words for a change...music to my ears!  Praise the Lord!

Words of the day

Chayce: How many kids are you going to have when you grow up?
Camden: 40, so I can give all of them love.
Mom: (teary-eyed) Sigh...

9 YEARS

Yesterday, 9 years ago I married my love, James.  We got married at a tiny little bed & breakfast in (a small  town) Decatur, Texas surrounded by our families.  My dad walked me down the isle and Chayce was our flower girl. It was a candlelight ceremony which was beautiful but hot because they had to turn off the a/c in order for all the candles to stay lit.  We had a little wedding cake and we all went to dinner at a country-fied restaurant near the b&b called Cowcamp...seriously!  After the celebratory dinner, everyone left and we got the whole bed and breakfast to ourselves.  It was decorated so sweet with antiques and beautiful linens and there was even a huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.  We spent our first night there as husband and wife.  The next morning we woke up to have breakfast at a little cafe on the square of downtown Decatur...it was truly a Mayberry-esque weekend.

Yesterday, on my anniversary, I woke up to a sweet anniversary card in my jewelry box.  I love getting cards from James because he always writes something so sincere and beautiful in them, words that many times I do not deserve.  I worked all day at the salon and I had a mighty good day too!  I had 4 walk-ins.  I thought it would have been slow with the weather all yucky and rainy out but business was good.  Since the weather was yucky, James was able to leave work at a decent time and we were able to meet for dinner...kid free.  Nothing fancy but it was so nice, a night out for dinner...alone.  We came home and were able to curl up on the couch to watch a movie.  What a great anniversary it was, just reflecting on our day and being alone, that's what I call fabulous!

I love you muff!

Totally 80's!!!

Oh my goodness, this isn't normally music that I listen to but thanks to my dear Chayce, I am totally hooked!!  It reminds me of the music I grew up listening to in the 80's and her make-up and hair ROCK in the video.  I will be adding it to my playlist soon, but in the meantime...ENJOY!  It's a catchy little tune!
